DFK Australia New Zealand has been recognised for its contribution to a charity which provides a home away from home for families travelling long distances for the treatment of their seriously ill or injured children.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia has thanked DFK ANZ member firms for their donation of $70,000 over seven years.
The funding equates to 437 nights’ worth of accommodation for families in need, enabling them to stay close to their children in hospital.
The DFK ANZ Board presents $10,000 to the charity each year at its annual partners conference, with the funding being given to the House based in that location.
The conference also welcomes special guests from the charity as well as family members who have directly benefitted who are able to tell their moving stories.
Benita Gevorkian, National Corporate Partnerships Manager at Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia, said: “The team and staff at DFK ANZ have dedicated each year in supporting a local Ronald McDonald House with a generous $10,000 donation.
“Raising over $70,000 to date and supporting almost 437 night’s worth of accommodation needs for our families travelling long distances for the treatment of their child’s serious illness or injury.
“It’s support like this that allows our charity to continue our mission in helping even more families. We are grateful to everyone at DFK ANZ for all their kindness and support.”
The 2021 donation was presented to the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia at the DFK ANZ Annual Partners Conference held in Adelaide.
Samantha Sturm, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia, said: “We are so appreciative to everyone at DFK ANZ for supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia with a generous donation of $10,000.
“Due to the impacts of COVID-19, fundraising income has been impacted significantly due to the cancellation of many large-scale fundraising events.
“We can’t thank DFK ANZ enough. Their generosity during these challenging times makes a world of difference for the families of seriously ill and injured children.”
Lynne Greenaway, Executive Officer at DFK ANZ, said: “We are extremely proud to be a long-standing supporter of such a fantastic charity.
“It’s been incredibly moving to hear first-hand how much of a difference it makes to the lives of families right across Australia from guests at our conferences. Some of our members have even been lucky enough to visit the Houses and cook dinner for some of the families staying there.
“A large number of DFK ANZ members have children, so it’s a cause that is close to all of our hearts.
“It’s incredible to hear that our donations have provided more than a year of accommodation for families going through such a difficult time.”
