 Start-up Smart Awards 2015

On Thursday April 16 2015, the prestigious RACV City Club played host to 200 people, who gathered together to celebrate this stunning variety of entrepreneurial talent in Australia.

Hundreds of uniquely innovative startups entered the 2015 StartupSmart Awards, an event proudly sponsored by DFK Australia New Zealand for the third year running. With 26 finalists selected across eight individual categories – as well as our five newly launched Best State Startup categories – judges had the difficult task of determining winners for 2015.

The awards, organised by, Australia’s leading news and advice resource for start-ups, recognise the most innovative and fastest-growing new businesses in Australia.

The StartupSmart Award is the competition that invites the best and brightest emerging businesses in Australia. A large number of start-ups entered this year’s Award – over 300 – all demonstrating a stunning depth of innovative and fast growing entrepreneurial talent.

Start-up Smart Awards 2013

A record number of 371 start-ups entered the 2013 Award, all demonstrating a stunning depth in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The judges of the 2013 awards, including the then Chairman of DFK ANZ, Chris Coulton, had the difficult task of picking out winners in the eight individual categories. Chris spoke of Start-up Hero winner, David Regenspurger from Energy Intelligence.

“He has been knocked down but has got up again. He has a motto of passion, determination and persistence to achieve his goals and I think he is an inspiration to all of us.”

The overall winner, Fastest Growing Start-up Award was 1800Approved, a Queensland finance brokerage. They have an impressive $20 million revenue after just three years of operation. Other categories included Best Start-up Idea, Best Green Start-up, Best Start-up Product, Best Services Start-up, Best Online Strategy, Best Start-up Investor and Best Young Entrepreneur.
